When you’ve overseen multiple house builds before, you know exactly what works—and what doesn’t. But for our Dieppe-based client Troy and his wife, this project was different. This wasn’t just another house; this was the house. The one they planned to call home forever.
So the question became: if you were building your dream home, what features would be absolutely non-negotiable?
Kitchen Storage Solutions That Actually Make Sense
For Troy and his wife, the answer was clear—they wanted loads of storage. But not just any storage; they wanted smart, functional solutions that would make their daily routines effortless.
We started by wrapping their refrigerator with usable cupboard space, maximizing every inch of available area. But the real showstopper lies just behind the fridge: a frosted-glass door that opens into their incredible pantry.
The Pantry That Changes Everything
This isn’t your typical pantry. Yes, it offers extensive additional storage space, but here’s where it gets exciting—you can actually cook in this one.
As an avid air fryer enthusiast, Troy needed his frequently-used appliances to stay put. During the renovation, we installed dedicated plugs and ventilation so his air fryer and other small appliances have a permanent home where he can use them without the hassle of constant setup and breakdown.
The Crown Jewel: An 8-Foot Kitchen Island
The centerpiece of this kitchen is undoubtedly the massive 8-foot island. This isn’t just a workspace—it’s a storage powerhouse featuring:
- Built-in organization for cutlery, pots, and pans
- Integrated garbage bin slide-out
- “Lazy susan” pull-out systems for easy access
- Dedicated spice drawer
- Under-sink tip-out storage
- Slide-out rack for cooking oils and miscellaneous items
The Finishing Touches That Matter
Great kitchen renos are all about the details. To ensure optimal functionality, we added under-cabinet lighting throughout the prep areas. The muted lighting beautifully complements the fresh linen-coloured cabinets and stunning quartz countertops, creating an atmosphere that’s both practical and inviting.
Beyond the Kitchen: Custom Vanity Work
Our work extended beyond the kitchen to include two custom-crafted vanities that perfectly match the home’s aesthetic:
- A basement bathroom vanity finished in a beautiful light oak
- A ground-floor master ensuite in a striking matte black
